Job description

Role Overview

As a Shift Lead at Walgreens in Albany, GA, you will be entrusted with opening and closing the store during management absences, overseeing cash handling procedures, and preparing the storefront and stockroom for daily business. You will handle vendor deliveries by managing backdoor access. This role involves ensuring all sales transactions are accurately registered and participating in inventory management, price updates, and store maintenance.

Customer Experience

  • Greet and assist customers and patients, addressing their product and service needs to foster a welcoming shopping atmosphere.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and issues, ensuring every visitor receives excellent service.
  • Demonstrate customer service excellence by modeling positive interpersonal actions such as greeting with eye contact and courtesy and proactively identifying customer needs.

Operational Duties

  • Manage store access by holding keys necessary for opening and closing.
  • Coach team members on warehouse collaboration and vendor ordering processes, including receiving deliveries.
  • Oversee accurate transaction processing, addressing scanning errors, price checks, and adjustments.
  • Support management with evaluating store displays and promotional setups, including resets and revisions.
  • Maintain precise inventory counts across departments, stockrooms, and overstock areas.
  • Enforce product freshness through adherence to the Outdate program.
  • Manage daily pricing adjustments and signage to ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Assist with bookkeeping functions such as cash reports, counts, ledgers, and bill payments.
  • Contribute to store cleanliness and upkeep by coordinating repairs and maintaining an orderly environment.
  • Ensure proper food item separation and stock rotation based on policy standards.
  • Operate store systems and equipment confidently.
  • Provide support at the Pharmacy out window as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with laws regarding regulated products like alcohol and tobacco.
  • Conduct team member bag checks prior to exit.
  • Uphold company policies and maintain professional team relationships.
  • Complete any additional assignments as directed.

Training and Development

  • Participate in required trainings and complete assigned Personal Performance Learning (PPL) modules as directed by management.

Communication

  • Act as a point of communication between management and non-management staff during management absences.
  • Report disciplinary incidents and customer concerns to store management promptly.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience in a leadership, supervisory, or retail key-holder role.
  • Fluency in English reading, writing, and speaking (except in Puerto Rico).

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with store inventory control systems.
  • Acceptance of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
  • Obtaining and maintaining a valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state law.
