Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Shift Charge Engineer to manage daily operations at a combined cycle power plant located in Ash Shimasiyah, Al Qasim, Saudi Arabia. This role entails overseeing gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSG, and auxiliary systems, ensuring they operate within design limits and meet power generation demands under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the shift operations team, fostering a safety-conscious and reliable work culture while providing mentorship and training.
- Monitor and adjust power output continuously to align with load requirements as specified in the PPA.
- Ensure full compliance with PPA terms, environmental policies, and operational standards to minimize ecological impact and maintain contractual obligations.
- Utilize plant control systems to track KPIs and respond swiftly to alarms or operational anomalies.
- Prepare comprehensive shift reports detailing performance, incidents, and deviations.
- Lead emergency response efforts, coordinating the plant’s protocols efficiently during critical situations.
- Collaborate closely with maintenance, electrical, instrumentation, and engineering teams to support operations and enable planned maintenance with minimal downtime.
- Drive continuous operational improvements and participate in professional development to stay current with technological advances.
- Maintain precise records of operations, safety checks, and compliance reports for management and regulatory submission.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. Additional certifications in power plant operations or management are advantageous.
- Approximately 8 years of experience in power plant operations, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity; experience with combined cycle plants and Siemens GT-based CCGT preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of combined cycle power generation, regulatory frameworks, and PPA contractual requirements.
- Fluent English communication skills; Arabic language proficiency is a plus.
- Capability to perform effectively under pressure and manage emergencies.
- Willingness to work shift rotations including nights, weekends, and holidays as operationally necessary.
