Role Summary

The Senior QA Engineer role entails deep expertise in testing and development methodologies. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be integral to product and delivery engineering teams, responsible for producing test artifacts aligned with our QA standards. You will handle complex testing scenarios, serve as a subject matter expert for specific features, manage test environments, manipulate database records, and contribute to test automation efforts. This position suits a self-reliant professional capable of working independently and mentoring junior members.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret requirements and other references critical to testing activities.
• Focus testing efforts on new features, changes, and bugs prior to releases.
• Lead test coordination, execution, and reporting of assigned features and fixes within set deadlines.
• Communicate promptly about any testing impediments or risks that could impact release schedules.
• Participate in test planning and effort estimation.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites.
• Identify repeatable tests suitable for automation.
• Report, triage, escalate defects, and track them to resolution.
• Collaborate proactively with engineers, product managers, professional services, and UX teams to align testing objectives.
• Regularly attend agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups.
• Promote testing standards, methodologies, and continuous improvement to prevent defects proactively.
• Conduct diverse testing types including functional, regression, UI, backend (API, database), and automated tests.
• Suggest and implement enhancements to testing processes and overall delivery quality.
• Consult with quality engineering leads for testing direction.

Required Skills and Experience

• Extensive understanding of recognized testing standards and processes (e.g., ISTQB, ISO, RST, CSTE, MoT).
• Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and various test types (sanity, system, integration, regression).
• Practical experience with test automation concepts and frameworks.
• Capability to plan and execute full testing cycles across multiple platforms (Web, API, Cloud, Mobile).
• Effective prioritization and management of simultaneous testing requirements.
• Strong investigative and analytical skills.
• Experience setting up and managing test environments and data.
• In-depth API testing experience, including security aspects.
• Proficient in database testing and SQL query usage.
• Knowledge of non-functional testing types such as performance, security, usability, and accessibility.
• Clear verbal and written communication abilities.
• Track record mentoring and coaching fellow QA professionals.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle technical information efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification or formal training in testing (e.g., ISTQB, RST, MoT).
• Experience developing and maintaining test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, UFT, RFT, Cypress, Tosca.
• Knowledge of ERP system testing including SAP, Oracle, Infor, Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.

Education and Experience

• Minimum 5 years of comprehensive testing experience including complex integrations.
• Broad exposure to functional, system, usability, and regression testing.
• Expertise with QA methodologies, test design, and defect management lifecycle.
• Proficient in at least one test management tool (e.g. Azure DevOps, JIRA, Zephyr, TestRail, Quality Center).
• Experience with multiple testing techniques including static analysis, black-box, and white-box testing.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Strong database knowledge and SQL skills.
• Solid understanding and experience testing APIs and their protocols.
• Skill in executing and improving automated test suites.
