Overview

The Senior Project Manager role is a fixed-term position for 18 months within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, focused on advancing the Value Based Healthcare (VBHC) strategy. Reporting to the VBHC Senior Management Team, the post holder will be instrumental in designing, coordinating, executing, and evaluating projects that optimize healthcare outcomes and resource utilization for the population served.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup, management, and execution of VBHC projects in collaboration with clinical and non-clinical leaders across healthcare domains.
  • Provide leadership and line management for the project support team.
  • Effectively plan resource allocation across multiple projects.
  • Develop comprehensive and robust project plans in partnership with stakeholders for VBHC workstreams.
  • Oversee implementation, delivery, and reporting of projects, including measuring impact and tracking benefits.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to secure support and communicate progress.
  • Establish meaningful outcome measurements and support programme boards with detailed progress reports.
  • Collaborate with Business Delivery, Development, and Finance teams to build analytical models on outcomes and costs, supporting value-based care pathways.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Postgraduate Diploma or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Professional development in project/programme management (PRINCE2, MSP or similar).
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects and solving problems within a project management context.
  • Competent in common desktop applications.
  • Experience working successfully within public sector partnership environments and with multiple stakeholders.

Desirable Attributes

  • Master’s level qualification.
  • Advanced IT proficiency in various desktop tools.
  • Welsh language skills at any proficiency level (speaking, reading, writing, understanding).
  • Formal project management experience.
  • Experience working within the NHS.
