Senior Manager - Process Technology

Overview

The Senior Manager / Deputy General Manager in Process Technology will operate at Godrej Agrovet Limited's Oil Palm Plantations division with locations including Eluru (Vijayawada) and Mumbai. This role involves driving new product development and comprehensive technology transfer from R&D stages through pilot plants to commercial production.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead new product development through demonstration trials, foundational data collection, and material balance assessments.
• Oversee the technology transfer process from R&D to pilot plants and subsequently from pilot plants to commercial-scale production.
• Prepare and commission plant systems for new products at both pilot and commercial plants; execute actual trial runs and troubleshoot emerging product issues.
• Generate and maintain detailed technical documentation including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs), equipment mapping, risk assessments, batch production records, and process flow diagrams as part of technology transfer activities.
• Conduct engineering calculations for equipment sizing, design, and suitability evaluations.
• Collaborate with chemistry teams to design and carry out experiments that ensure development of robust and reliable processes.
• Monitor live production processes to promptly identify and resolve trouble spots.
• Coordinate with multiple internal functions to ensure seamless, timely, and error-free technology transfers.
• Initiate efforts to enhance productivity and technical precision within processes.
• Apply expertise in process design, scale-up, and commercial plant commissioning.
• Analyze process parameters for continuous improvement and cost reduction targeting performance gaps.
• Serve as a technical liaison between planning and implementation groups to optimize output and quality, including troubleshooting existing products and running trials to achieve yield and quality targets.
• Develop systems to reduce batch operation time cycles and implement process modifications across units to lower cost and improve safety and environmental sustainability.
• Implement various operational systems with consultant support and recommend improvements in equipment and utility usage efficiency.
• Assist with statutory compliance requirements and foster cross-departmental relationships to support product lifecycle solutions.
• Evaluate commercial feasibility of concepts, advise on capital investments, identify project risks, and define strategic paths forward.
• Act as a liaison between R&D and manufacturing to ensure smooth integration and implementation.
• Identify and promote opportunities for process standardization and continuous improvement.
• Manage organizational change by collaborating and communicating across departments, partnering with engineering and R&D to explore emerging technologies and validate new equipment installations.
• Provide updates on new project statuses to senior management.
