Senior IT Business Analyst - Agile, Support, Data

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior IT Business Analyst for a contract position with our client in the insurance sector, located in Toronto. This role involves end-to-end responsibility for gathering, analyzing, documenting, and validating both business and system requirements throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial discovery through implementation and ongoing production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the main liaison between business stakeholders and project teams to ensure clear communication.
• Lead discussions to deeply understand business challenges, goals, and limitations.
• Analyze and map current and future business processes across enterprise domains for improvement.
• Convert business requirements into precise, comprehensive, and testable functional and non-functional specifications.
• Utilize modeling techniques including business process flows, use cases, workflow diagrams, and data models to document requirements.
• Maintain traceability from business needs through solution design to test scenarios.
• Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities including defining scenarios, validating test cases, and managing defect triage.
• Work closely with Quality Assurance teams to establish integration, system, and performance testing requirements.
• Assist with implementation and deployment tasks such as data conversion and verifying post-launch functionality.
• Partner with developers and technical support to diagnose and resolve issues found in production environments.
• Perform data investigations and analysis using Oracle SQL to aid in defect correction and validate business requirements.
• Ensure the ongoing operational stability of production systems and promote continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in business analysis for custom system development on complex, large-scale projects.
• Expertise in defining requirements, business process modeling, use case development, workflow analysis, and data modeling.
• Strong understanding of relational databases along with hands-on Oracle SQL experience.
• Experience with methodologies tailored for custom system development.
• Outstanding facilitation skills along with a consultative approach and effective stakeholder management capabilities.
