About the Role
This position focuses on shaping and implementing strategic approaches concerning liquidity risk, funding risk, interest rate risk, and Treasury counter-party credit risk at SBS Bank.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculate and provide daily and weekly liquidity status reports to the Head of Treasury and Financial Insights, CFO, and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, ensuring adherence to minimum liquidity requirements, banking covenants, and company policies.
- Monitor, gauge, and report liquidity risk in relation to established policy restrictions and controls.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with facility agreements, liquidity policies, banking covenants, and regulatory reporting standards mandated by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
- Manage administration for the Asset and Liability Committee, including preparing documentation and reports to facilitate timely committee decisions.
- Report on interest rate and foreign exchange risk exposures according to scheduled cycles, Board risk appetite, and ALCO directions.
- Conduct capital and liquidity stress testing for evaluation by the Head of Treasury and Financial Insights.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Understanding of how broader economic and regulatory factors influence organizational performance.
- Linkage of Treasury outcomes to broader organizational objectives and reporting frameworks.
- Professional experience in the financial sector, ideally within a corporate or banking treasury function.
- Background in market risk management.
- Capability to interpret and enforce legal and regulatory requirements applicable to organizational reporting, such as accounting standards.
- Possession of a tertiary business degree, preferably majoring in accounting, economics, finance, or mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Familiarity with Treasury and Asset Liability Management (ALM) systems.
- Experience navigating regulatory compliance.
- Advanced or postgraduate education in finance, risk management, or mathematics.
- Professional association membership with either the Institute of Financial Professionals New Zealand or the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Working Hours
This full-time role involves working 37.5 hours per week from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
