The Senior Finance Manager will assume full responsibility for the financial operations of an organization dedicated to accelerating the global energy transition. The role will encompass ownership of accounting, financial planning, reporting, compliance, and process enhancements in a fully remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Take comprehensive ownership of finance functions to ensure reliable, accurate, and efficient financial operations.
• Maintain precise financial records including bookkeeping, reconciliations, transaction documentation, and related paperwork.
• Manage invoices, expenses, and payments with adherence to internal controls and accounting compliance.
• Support financial closing processes monthly, quarterly, and annually along with internal financial reporting.
• Develop and oversee budgets across various projects and departments and assist with financial forecasting and planning.
• Handle cash flow management, financial analysis, risk management, and other strategic financial duties.
• Collaborate with external advisors to ensure compliance with German accounting and tax regulations.
• Oversee monthly payroll procedures for internal entities and employer-of-record arrangements.
• Liaise with People, Administration, leadership teams, and external partners regarding finance matters.
• Assist with financial audits, fundraising initiatives, and documentation requests.
• Enhance finance workflows, documentation standards, and internal controls to develop scalable financial procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 8 years of experience in finance-related roles including accounting, controlling, bookkeeping, or financial management.
• Deep knowledge of accounting principles and proven compliance with local financial regulations.
• Demonstrated capability to independently manage financial functions in a remote work environment.
• Proficiency with accounting software and financial platforms such as Odoo, Datev, or equivalent.
• Strong analytical aptitude with expertise in handling financial data using reporting tools, Google Sheets, and Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to safeguard confidential information.
• Effective communication abilities, adept at collaborating with distributed teams.
• Fluent English language skills are mandatory; German language skills desirable for external communications.
• Self-motivated with the ability to initiate and establish efficient financial processes without close supervision.
• Experience in startup environments, non-profits, energy sector, or open-source projects is advantageous.
