Role overview
We are hiring a Senior Event-Driven Researcher to help improve the firm’s ability to understand fast-changing, complex situations in crypto markets. The position is centered on crypto-native catalysts such as regulatory shifts, protocol governance, token unlocks, and special situations, turning them into clear insight and actionable trading ideas.
The work involves pulling together incomplete, shifting, and fragmented information into a consistent view of what matters, what can be set aside, and how the situation should shape positioning and risk. This sits inside a high-caliber crypto research environment where research feeds directly into decisions and ideas are actively tested through debate.
You will collaborate with on-chain intelligence and real-time intelligence teams, using distinctive data sources and proprietary tools that are uncommon across crypto firms.
Key responsibilities
- Build deep, context-heavy views on event-driven situations that create an information advantage, taking ownership of each situation from start to finish and updating the thesis as facts and narratives change.
- Track new developments as they appear, separating meaningful signals from background noise and explaining how updates change the decision framework and probability tree.
- Spot attractive asymmetric opportunities early by forming a well-grounded understanding of the situation instead of reacting superficially.
- Help improve the firm’s research process by partnering with engineering to design tools and workflows that support an event-driven trading approach.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in information- and flow-driven research or trading, ideally in a tier-1 buy-side or proprietary trading setting.
- Proven ability to work in event-driven environments where outcomes depend on incomplete information, incentives, and changing circumstances rather than static fundamentals.
- Strong curiosity and the ability to build conviction quickly across a broad range of event-driven topics.
- Direct crypto experience is not mandatory, but you should show real interest in the space and a believable path to getting up to speed quickly.
- Well-aligned backgrounds include macro, emerging markets, FX, commodities, event-driven or special situations research, and similar roles where information flow, positioning, and timing matter.
- Less suitable backgrounds include highly systematic or delta-neutral strategies, and roles focused mainly on long-only fundamental analysis rather than event interpretation and decision-making under uncertainty.
- You should also demonstrate the ability to go deep into details while keeping the broader picture in view.
- Need to hold and adjust coherent views as situations evolve.
- Must be comfortable with rigorous debate, constructive challenge, and close collaboration across research, trading, and engineering.
- Strong internal drive to become an exceptional, top-tier researcher is important.
Interview process
- CV screening to review your background and experience against the role.
- Initial interview focused on question quality, judgment under incomplete information, and how you frame event-driven situations.
- Technical or case interview to assess problem-solving and writing ability.
- Final interview with the Co-Founder/CIO to evaluate cultural fit, strategic alignment, and resonance with the firm’s values.
Company values
- Drive: Strong team members are deeply passionate, keep raising their standards, and actively seek excellence.
- Ownership: The firm values people who take initiative, step up when needed, and treat the company’s goals as their own.
- Judgment: The best contributors focus on what truly drives impact, use time wisely, adapt across domains, and prioritize outcomes over comfort zones.
- Openness: The culture encourages open communication, healthy challenge, and shared learning to reach better decisions.
- Competence: The team looks for exceptional intellectual strength and the ability to apply knowledge effectively in fast-changing environments.
- Resilience: The firm expects people to stay calm under pressure, learn from setbacks, and adapt quickly while keeping long-term goals in sight.
