Position Overview: Secondary Electrical Engineer

We are currently seeking a skilled Secondary Electrical Engineer for our Power Business Unit in Chennai. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant certifications and have 8 to 15 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop designs for control, protection, metering, and monitoring systems that meet quality standards and schedule demands.
• Follow established design guidelines and procedures strictly.
• Identify design challenges and propose corrective solutions.
• Conduct detailed design analyses and calculations per project specifications.
• Estimate construction costs and material requirements based on developed designs.
• Assess project plans to evaluate design feasibility and constraints.
• Utilize up-to-date software and technologies to create efficient design solutions.
• Maintain organized and precise design documentation for reference.
• Incorporate health, safety, and environmental considerations within designs.
• Manage design projects ensuring deadlines and man-hour allocations are met.
• Keep current with advancements in related design disciplines.
• Ensure designs comply with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
• Support senior design team members with design related tasks.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Proficient in designing control, protection, metering, and monitoring systems for LV, MV, HV, and EHV substations, from initial concept through construction drawings.
• Understanding of transmission and distribution functions related to construction coordination with other engineering disciplines.
• Knowledgeable in control and protection schemes, including CT/PT calculations and relay settings.
• Experienced with SAS systems, IED relays, IEC61850 protocol, and integration with SCADA and communication networks.
• Familiar with international and regional electrical standards such as IEC, IEEE, British Standards, SASO, and SEC.
• Skilled in design software including DIGSI, PCM600, MICOM AGILE, Envista, SEL tools, Building Designer, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
• Passionate about protection systems and the electrical power industry, capable of leading design and project teams creatively.
• Excellent communication skills for effective presentation and documentation, with strong command of English.
