About The Tax Factor
The Tax Factor is a dedicated accounting firm specializing in assisting private business owners throughout all phases of their business journey—from startup through sustainable expansion and beyond. Role Overview
This position is a full-time senior accountant role based onsite in Bankstown, NSW. The incumbent will be responsible for managing a portfolio of private business clients, handling complete accounting and tax compliance duties. Tasks include preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, BAS, and other statutory filings. The role also involves advising on business structuring, cash flow, and tax strategies, while actively seeking ways to enhance systems, processes, and overall commercial performance. The individual will work closely with business owners to clearly communicate complex financial matters and collaborate extensively with the internal team to maintain high service standards.
Additional Responsibilities
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior accounting personnel.
- Participating in internal quality assurance activities.
- Supporting ongoing improvements within the firm’s operations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Strong expertise in accounting principles, including financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and managing general ledgers.
- Proven experience in tax compliance and advisory services for private enterprises, encompassing income tax, GST, BAS, and related filings.
- Competence in business advisory areas such as structuring, cash flow, budgeting, and performance analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting and practice management software, alongside advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
- Excellent communication abilities to build rapport and explain complex financial topics in understandable terms to business owners.
- Capability to juggle multiple client projects, prioritize tasks, and adhere to deadlines within a dynamic environment.
- Collaborative approach with demonstrated experience mentoring junior staff.
- Relevant tertiary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, with CA or CPA certification or in-progress highly preferred.
- Background in public practice or professional services with small to medium private businesses is an asset.
