Self Checkout Attendant

Position Overview

Joining Walmart Canada as a Self-Checkout Attendant offers an excellent opportunity to build skills in retail and customer service. The role focuses on delivering exceptional support to customers using self-service checkout stations, ensuring an enjoyable shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, organized, and clutter-free self-checkout area, free of debris and fluids.
• Guide customers on effective use of self-service checkout machines when necessary.
• Promote Walmart’s sponsored programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives when relevant.
• Monitor customers at checkout stations to identify those needing assistance promptly.
• Explain reasons for any intervention or quality checks during self-service transactions, reassuring customers that these checks are standard procedure.
• Handle Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms by following protocol and recording incidents in the "Failure to Deactivate" log.
• Notify the Customer Service Manager if there are cash shortages or technical problems in the self-service area.
• Return Scan & Go scanners to designated stations after customers finish using them.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this role is $17.75.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
