About the role
The Lunch Bag provides nutritious, hot school meals to children throughout Ireland and is focused on helping build healthy eating habits from an early age. This part-time school-based role is suited to someone who is cheerful, dependable, flexible, and happy to contribute to a positive school day.
You will act as the final step in the meal delivery process at the school, working with meals that are prepared at the company’s headquarters in Nenagh, Tipperary and delivered to site. The role involves heating meals, serving them to classrooms, and helping maintain smooth daily meal service.
Key duties
- Place pre-packed school meals into ovens for heating.
- Switch on ovens and heat food to the required temperature in line with HACCP standards.
- Remove meals from ovens and deliver lunches to classrooms.
- Keep stock at appropriate levels.
- Follow the daily work routine and cleaning timetable.
- Record temperatures and cleaning activity accurately.
- Top up fruit bowls in classrooms.
- Hand out snacks to classrooms.
What the employer is looking for
The ideal candidate will be practical, warm, and committed to doing the job well while representing the organisation in a school setting. You should be comfortable working efficiently, staying composed under pressure, and handling the responsibilities carefully.
This role requires the ability to lift boxes weighing up to 14 kg and may involve climbing stairs, as not every school has lift access. Prior experience with children or food handling is useful, but it is not essential. Candidates from all backgrounds are welcome, and full guidance will be provided.
You must be able to read English, understand instructions, and heat each meal attentively.
Working pattern
This is a part-time position requiring 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday. The job follows the academic calendar, so you will work approximately 183 days each year and have the remaining days off during school holidays, including summer.
Pay and support
The hourly pay is €14.65. Employees can also expect a supportive team, a flexible schedule, and the chance to work in a friendly school environment.
Training
HACCP training and manual handling training will be provided.
