Role Overview

The Sanitation Worker plays a critical role in maintaining food safety by thoroughly cleaning food processing equipment and facility areas. This physically demanding position helps ensure production of safe, high-quality food products compliant with established safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute sanitation duties following assigned schedules, manuals, and best practices, including deep cleaning of production lines during downtime.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols related to working on or near production machinery, including lockout/tagout and fall protection procedures.
  • Identify and promptly report any signs of pest infestations or product contamination risks.
  • Raise sanitation concerns to supervisors to maintain adherence to cleanliness standards.
  • Provide assistance to teammates with sanitation tasks on various machines as needed.
  • Complete sanitation-related documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain quality standards within assigned work areas.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of Safe Quality Food (SQF) systems and food safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Willingness and availability to work 12-hour shifts on weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.
  • Preferred high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments, with food manufacturing exposure considered strongly advantageous.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, and scissor lifts.

Physical Demands

  • Capability to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, and stoop for over 4 hours per shift.
  • Ability to stand or walk for up to 12 hours per shift.
  • Reach overhead for more than 4 hours per shift.
  • Work from ladders for 1+ hour during a shift.
  • Tolerate dusty, hot, or humid environments for at least 8 hours per shift.
  • Push, pull, and feel objects for 4+ hours per shift.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly for over 4 hours per shift.
  • Communicate effectively through spoken or written language.
  • Visually distinguish objects or equipment clearly.
