Loxa is dedicated to safeguarding retail customers globally by developing and managing modern insurance products seamlessly integrated into retail experiences. Having partnered with over 60 retailers in its initial years, Loxa is expanding into new product categories and ways to distribute its offerings. Building a reliable pipeline of retail partners is fundamental to its growth strategy.
Role Overview
The Business Development Representative position serves as the crucial front line of Loxa's commercial efforts. This high-energy role involves initiating contact with retail and brand prospects across the UK, representing Loxa's first point of contact. Success in this role requires balancing high volume outreach with thoughtful, customized engagement to secure qualified meetings and foster meaningful long-term collaborations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct over 100 cold calls daily to targeted retail and brand prospects, opening dialogues and scheduling qualified meetings.
- Research and understand target accounts to ensure every outreach is relevant and valuable to prospects.
- Manage objections professionally, treating rejection as learning opportunities and persisting enthusiastically.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records to reflect the true sales pipeline status.
- Create and send tailored presentations and proposals aligned with prospects' category, customer base, and commercial goals.
- Persistently follow up and refine messaging based on prospect engagement to improve response rates.
- Leverage LinkedIn and other social channels for targeted outreach, engaging potential clients with relevant content and direct communication.
- Experiment with new outreach channels like events, communities, referrals, and partnerships to broaden engagement.
- Deepen understanding of embedded insurance, retail, and manufacturing sectors to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Seek continuous professional development through coaching, feedback, and sharing effective practices with team members.
- Collaborate directly with founders on outbound strategies, target lists, and commercial projects to support company scaling efforts.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a strong blend of confidence and empathy to engage prospects thoughtfully.
- Demonstrate perseverance and resilience, maintaining enthusiasm despite frequent rejections.
- Show eagerness to learn and explore innovative channels for prospect engagement.
- Exhibit intelligence and curiosity, with a motivation to master the insurance, retail, and manufacturing industries.
- Maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills alongside a high degree of ownership and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Background in outbound sales, business development, or other target-driven roles.
- Previous experience with retail, e-commerce, or brand sales.
- Familiarity with CRM and sales engagement platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or Apollo.
- Exposure to insurance, fintech, or similarly regulated sectors.
- Comfort working in evolving early-stage company environments.
Benefits and Compensation
- Annual base salary ranging from £30,000 to £40,000, dependent on experience.
- Additional performance-based bonus of £10,000.
- Equity options available after one year or sooner for exceptional contributors.
- Opportunity to work closely with founders in a collaborative, action-oriented office environment located in central London (Elephant and Castle).
- Clear career progression toward full-cycle sales and partnership responsibilities.
