Safety Management
- Develop and uphold tailored health and safety management frameworks specific to the site.
- Guarantee adherence to corporate HSE protocols, client stipulations, and mining regulations.
- Carry out regular safety inspections in both underground and surface working zones.
- Ensure procedures for safe work practices are consistently followed and evaluated.
- Advocate for a robust culture of safety among employees and external contractors.
Risk Management
- Lead risk evaluation processes particularly for maintenance tasks.
- Detect occupational hazards and suggest suitable mitigation strategies.
- Observe the enforcement and efficacy of risk control measures.
- Confirm that Job Hazard Analyses and Take-5 assessments are completed prior to commencement of jobs.
Incident Management
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near misses, and dangerous events.
- Determine fundamental causes and propose preventive and corrective measures.
- Monitor resolution of incident action items.
- Compile incident documentation and share lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
Safety Training and Awareness
- Conduct safety orientations for new hires and site visitors.
- Lead toolbox talks and regular safety meetings.
- Organize safety awareness initiatives and training sessions.
- Track employee qualifications and ensure compliance with mandatory safety education.
Compliance and Audits
- Perform internal safety audits and workplace inspections.
- Engage in regulatory and client-led audits.
- Ensure all underground mining laws and contractual safety obligations are met.
- Maintain comprehensive safety documentation including permits, registers, and records.
Emergency Preparedness
- Contribute to emergency plan development and execution of drills.
- Verify availability and routine inspection of emergency apparatus.
- Participate actively in emergency simulations and response teams.
- Collaborate with clients to coordinate emergency readiness activities.
Contractor and Visitor Safety
- Confirm contractors comply with site safety protocols.
- Ensure visitors receive proper safety orientation and monitoring.
- Oversee contractor adherence to safety regulations.
Reporting
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly health, safety, and environmental reports.
- Monitor and report on principal safety performance metrics.
- Present safety outcomes at client and internal forums.
- Maintain precise records of inspections, audits, incidents, and safety training activities.
