Role Overview

This position requires the creation of six essential illustrations for a children’s picture book series targeting readers aged 6 to 10. These artworks will play a central role in marketing initiatives, including a Kickstarter campaign and a limited-edition print run, with potential for ongoing work on the full series. The illustrations should be delivered in three installments within a roughly three-week timeframe, concluding by 14 August 2026.

Artistic Style and Requirements

The desired illustration style embraces a loose, hand-drawn approach using pencil or ink linework combined with a delicate watercolour wash to produce a warm, storybook ambiance with a slightly imperfect charm. Both traditional and digital art methods are acceptable; however, the use of AI-generated or AI-assisted techniques is strictly forbidden. The finished illustrations must harmonize with the book's narrative, conveying emotional depth and storytelling alongside the text.

Deliverables

Produce six key illustrations for the children’s picture book series, submitted across three batches.
Complete and deliver all artwork by the set deadline of 14 August 2026.
Ensure illustrations comprise loose, hand-drawn pencil or ink linework paired with a soft watercolour wash.
