Regulatory and Import Specialist

Overview

The position is responsible for ensuring adherence to all regulatory mandates concerning product registrations, certifications, and customs clearance. This role involves managing processes with the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA), overseeing import documentation and approvals, and confirming that all imported goods comply with legal and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage product registration, labeling certification, and approvals through SFDA and related authorities.
• Collaborate with customs brokers and freight forwarders to facilitate smooth shipment clearance, addressing any documentation or compliance challenges.
• Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and suppliers to embed regulatory requirements seamlessly within sourcing and shipping operations.
• Monitor updates in SFDA regulations, customs laws, and import policies, informing internal teams as needed.
• Detect compliance risks, delays, or potential product rejections and escalate issues promptly to prevent business disruption.

Qualifications and Skills

• Three to five years of professional experience in import regulatory affairs, customs clearance, or compliance, especially within the food or FMCG industry.
• Thorough understanding of SFDA regulations, customs procedures, and related import/export paperwork.
• Familiarity with Incoterms, Harmonized System (HS) codes, and import tariffs or duties.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude to effectively handle clearance or regulatory challenges under pressure.
• Proven experience liaising with customs brokers, freight handlers, and governmental regulatory bodies.
