About the Role
The New York Post is a distinguished media company delivering content across multiple platforms including print, digital, video, audio, apps, television, and commerce, attracting about 90 million unique visitors monthly. We seek a dedicated full-time Real Estate Reporter with deep expertise and established connections in New York City and national residential real estate sectors. The ideal candidate is a proactive journalist, skilled in obtaining exclusive information and proficient in navigating local and national real estate databases. Your writing should be dynamic and insightful.
Job Responsibilities
- Create timely, engaging short-form breaking news stories sourced from market updates, new listings, and aggregated information.
- Develop in-depth, longer feature articles focusing on unique residential lifestyles in New York, analysis of contentious properties, and listings with celebrity histories or notable prices.
- Consistently pitch innovative story concepts that align with The Post’s voice and attract readership while implementing SEO best practices.
- Maintain awareness of key trends and happenings in residential real estate, including price changes, celebrity transactions, and market analytics.
- Ensure reporting accuracy and professionalism in all published content.
- Attend relevant industry events and allocate time to cultivate reliable sources such as brokers and publicists.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in journalism or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three years of real estate reporting experience, ideally focused on residential real estate.
- Superior writing skills, meticulous with fact-checking and SEO techniques.
- Creative mindset able to approach stories in engaging ways and open to editorial feedback.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local and national residential real estate market trends.
- Capable of working efficiently under pressure to meet stringent deadlines while upholding quality standards.
- Familiarity with WordPress or comparable content management systems.
Additional Information
This position operates on a strictly on-site schedule, requiring attendance at the New York office five days weekly.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $72,000 to $80,000 annually, adjustable according to the candidate’s experience, abilities, and location. Bonus eligibility is established upon various considerations including market comparisons and individual performance.
