Raw Materials Assistant

About the Role

The Raw Materials Assistant plays a crucial role in the Product Development & Raw Materials department at Retrofête, primarily supporting the management and organization of raw material development for both Retrofête and Seroya brands. This position has key responsibilities including maintaining and owning Seroya’s master fabric data records, managing lab dip follow-ups, organizing raw material submissions, and coordinating care-label and compliance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the Seroya Master Fabric Data Sheet (FDS) and fabric charts accurately and up-to-date.
• Track and oversee lab dip submissions, maintain communications with internal teams, factories, and suppliers about statuses, and escalate issues when necessary.
• Collect, organize, and monitor Seroya’s SMS swatch, FDS, and strike-off material collections, ensuring materials are tracked effectively.
• Co-manage the bulk raw material submission organization and the physical and digital raw materials library, maintaining clear labeling and filing systems.
• Assist with bulk raw material approvals, ensuring submissions are organized for review and follow-up on outstanding approvals.
• Coordinate care label management, compliance tracking, and testing documentation alongside the Raw Materials Associate, escalating any discrepancies or missing documentation.

Requirements

• One to two years of experience in raw materials, textile or product development, or related sectors; internship experience is acceptable.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Fashion Merchandising, Textile Design, Apparel Production, or related fields.
• Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail to manage multiple records and processes efficiently.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet tools such as Excel and Google Sheets; familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems is advantageous.
• Basic fabric and textile knowledge or a readiness to acquire it swiftly.
• Strong, clear communication skills to engage with team members, suppliers, and manufacturers effectively.
• Ability to prioritize work appropriately and know when to escalate delays.
• Collaborative attitude essential for sharing responsibilities and processes with team members.
• Genuine interest in fashion and fabric development, appreciating the impact of fabric choices on final products.

• Annual salary ranging from $50,000 to $55,000.
