Job description

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established main contractor operating in the UK, Ireland, and parts of Europe. The company specializes in turnkey capital projects within the pharmaceutical, technology, and food sectors, handling projects valued between 50 million and 250 million. This permanent position is based in Athy, County Kildare, Ireland, and entails reporting directly to the Commercial Manager on a long-term industrial project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor costs and generate reports using construction-specific computer software.
  • Manage the procurement process by reviewing and approving selected contractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure all contractual communications comply with contract stipulations.
  • Continuously oversee the project schedule and budget to maintain alignment with targets.
  • Extract quantities from drawings and input them into cost estimation templates.
  • Prepare enquiry documents employing standard pro-formas to develop competitive bids.
  • Analyze subcontractor quotations to normalize and compare submissions to ensure the most cost-effective options are presented to clients.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Approximately five years of quantity surveying experience.
  • Possession of a tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • Experience working with main contractors or subcontractors in Ireland or the UK.

Compensation and Benefits

The company offers a competitive remuneration package, including a salary range of 80,000 to 90,000, which is negotiable based on experience. Additional benefits include car allowances, pension schemes, and private healthcare.
