Role overview
This is a Germany-based Quality Manager opportunity shared through a hiring partner on behalf of the employer, with applications and subsequent steps handled by that partner company. The role is central to maintaining exceptional quality standards across demanding industrial and engineering programs in the clean energy space.
You will shape, deploy, and refine quality systems that support the entire life cycle of advanced electrolysis and hydrogen infrastructure work. The position sits at the junction of engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and project execution, ensuring that quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance are maintained from concept and design all the way through commissioning and handover to the customer. It combines leadership responsibilities with direct involvement in fabrication and construction quality control, while also coordinating closely with suppliers and independent inspectors across Europe to meet stringent technical and regulatory expectations.
Key accountabilities
- Direct quality management activities across every stage of the project cycle, including design, sourcing, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and final delivery
- Create, roll out, and continually strengthen quality systems, procedures, and project-specific quality plans
- Set up and oversee quality teams, inspectors, and external third-party resources supporting suppliers and fabrication partners
- Prepare inspection and test plans, define quality hold points, and verify adherence throughout manufacturing and construction work
- Handle non-conformances end to end, including investigation of root causes and execution of corrective and preventive actions
- Work with Supply Chain teams on supplier qualification, audits, and performance reviews
- Examine and approve technical files such as drawings, weld maps, material lists, and manufacturing dossiers to confirm compliance
- Draft quality-related contract clauses for suppliers and support PED 2014/68/EU conformity work and EU declarations of conformity
- Lead factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests, and close out punch-list items before shipment
- Control end-of-manufacturing record books and ensure alignment with relevant codes and regulatory obligations
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Welding, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
- At least 10 years of experience in quality-related roles within industrial equipment, fabrication, manufacturing, or major engineering projects
- Minimum 4 years in a Quality Manager role or similar leadership capacity
- Proven ability to manage quality systems, supplier quality, inspection activities, and third-party quality support
- Strong history of delivering quality assurance across several active projects at the same time, ideally in Europe
- Familiarity with industrial manufacturing settings, including welded structures, pressure equipment, and complex technical assemblies
- Solid working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2, and PED 2014/68/EU; exposure to ASME, EN, ATEX, and similar frameworks is an advantage
- Experience collaborating with suppliers, fabricators, and engineering teams in international, cross-functional environments
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination abilities
- Fluency in English; German or Spanish would be an added advantage
- Willingness to travel 40-60% across European project and fabrication locations
Perks and benefits
- Chance to contribute to major clean energy and hydrogen infrastructure programs
- Competitive pay package in line with experience and market benchmarks
- Broad benefits coverage, including healthcare, insurance, and wellbeing support
- Equity participation and long-term incentive plans, subject to role eligibility
- Annual bonus plus additional performance-related rewards
- Flexible working arrangements with substantial travel across Europe
- Access to learning and development in advanced engineering and quality systems
- An inclusive, mission-led culture centered on sustainability and innovation
