QC Inspector – Painting / Coating

Role Overview

The QC Inspector will carry out independent quality control checks on welding processes to confirm adherence to approved drawings, procedures, codes, and project specifications. This role demands rigorous inspection to guarantee the quality and compliance of welding tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-process and final quality inspections of welding activities aligned with approved Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), drawings, and specifications.
• Monitor adherence to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and WPQ standards.
• Confirm welder qualification statuses and manage traceability of welding consumables.
• Coordinate with the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) team for Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT), ensuring results meet acceptance criteria.
• Examine and validate Quality Control documentation from contractors and subcontractors, including material certification and inspection/test reports.
• Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for identified deviations and follow up on corrective actions to resolution.
• Maintain strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) guidelines throughout onsite activities.

Qualifications and Certifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or equivalent trade qualifications.
• Mandatory possession of a current CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification.
• Familiarity with welding standards such as ASME IX, API 1104, and other relevant codes.
• AWS-CWI certification is advantageous.

Experience Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a Welding QC Inspector within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Demonstrated experience inspecting Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or LNG EPC/brownfield projects.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of pertinent international codes and standards for welding inspection.
