Public Relations Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a Public Relations Assistant for a 4-month contract to support the US-based Public Relations team for a renowned eyewear and retail company. This hybrid remote role is based in New York, NY, requiring 2-3 days per week onsite at 420 5th Avenue. The assistant will provide essential administrative and strategic support to maximize PR outcomes across the company's eyewear, retail, and digital portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Public Relations Manager in daily PR tasks as well as in developing creative PR and influencer outreach strategies.
• Coordinate with external agency partners to fulfill editorial requests and ensure smooth PR department operations.
• Develop PR materials such as talking points, media alerts, quotes, and trend pitches.
• Maintain and update media contact lists for outreach purposes.
• Create PR recaps and conduct ongoing influencer research.
• Support event management activities including managing RSVPs, inviting media, and organizing product displays.
• Handle product order fulfillment for gifting and sampling programs.
• Manage operational communications to stores including campaign asset delivery, handling high-resolution images, credit requests, shipments, and messenger services.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, advertising/marketing, or journalism is preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills.
• Ability to adapt flexibly in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Excellent project management capabilities with diligent follow-up.
• Proven capacity to meet tight deadlines independently.
• Travel may be required depending on brand events and needs.

Additional Information

The role reports directly to the Senior Public Relations Manager for Sunglass Hut globally. Availability for immediate start is essential. The position requires a hybrid work schedule at the New York office several times per week.
