Role overview
Northern Land Council is looking for multiple Property Officers to strengthen its Property & Assets team in Darwin. This ongoing full-time position suits someone with property management experience who wants work with purpose, including residential and commercial asset oversight, stakeholder coordination, and regular travel across the Top End.
The role supports a broad and complex property portfolio used for staff and operational needs across urban, regional, and remote parts of Northern Australia. You will contribute to work that directly assists Aboriginal communities, Traditional Owners, and the organisation’s operations.
What you will do
- Oversee residential and commercial leasing activity, inspections, and tenancy paperwork.
- Handle maintenance requests and coordinate contractors in both metropolitan and remote settings.
- Support accommodation planning, including office space and staff housing arrangements.
- Track maintenance programs and ensure outstanding property matters are followed through.
- Keep property records accurate and help improve internal property processes and systems.
- Travel to remote communities to inspect sites and coordinate works when needed.
What you need
You should be a well-organised, hands-on professional who is comfortable solving problems and working with a wide range of people. The position calls for someone who can balance multiple priorities while maintaining strong records and professional relationships.
Relevant experience in residential or commercial property management is required, along with a solid understanding of tenancy laws, leases, and property administration. You’ll also need strong communication skills, good attention to detail, and confidence using Microsoft Office and property management software. A current C Class Driver’s Licence is required, and you must be willing to travel regularly, including by 4WD and light aircraft to remote locations.
Who the role suits
This opportunity is ideal for applicants with property management qualifications and experience who are ready to work in a varied environment and contribute to community-focused operations across the Northern Territory.
Pay and benefits
The base salary is $79,870 per year, plus 15% superannuation on base salary and district allowance. The package also includes salary sacrificing of up to $15,900, along with Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2,650 each year.
Additional enterprise agreement benefits include district allowance of up to $4,884 per year for those with dependants, or $2,678 without dependants; 5 weeks of annual leave; leave loading; 18 days of personal leave; paid Christmas shutdown; and an annual airfare benefit after 12 months of service with a net value of $3,177.
