Production Worker

Role overview

Sonoco is hiring a Production Worker for its paper mill operation in Brantford, Ontario. This role reports to the Production Supervisor and focuses on supporting the production line by helping remove finished goods and keeping the work area running safely and efficiently.

Compensation and schedule

The wage for this position is $31.67 per hour. The schedule consists of 12-hour continental rotating shifts, covering both days and nights. Overtime may be required.

Key duties

• Carry out regular checks on process-related equipment.
• Operate and clean power equipment used in production activities.
• Use propane or diesel-powered lift trucks/tow motors after completing in-house certification.
• Set up and organize workstations for day-to-day production tasks.
• Help maintain a workplace that is clean, orderly, and safe.
• Take on additional duties as needed.

What the employer is looking for

• Comfort using computers and mechanical equipment.
• Previous experience in production or a mill environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of confined spaces and Lock/Tag/Try procedures is an advantage.
• Lift truck or tow motor experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.
• Grade 12 education or an equivalent qualification is required, with proof to be shown at the first interview.
• Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.
• Must be physically able to meet job demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Must be available for rotating 12-hour continental shifts, including day-to-night rotation, and willing to work overtime when needed.
