Production Team Leader

About the Role

Moana New Zealand is seeking a proactive and energetic Production Team Leader for their operations in Palmerston North. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone to take on an active leadership role within the production team or for an emerging leader with natural leadership talents who is eager to develop further.

Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will lead and support a team to meet daily production goals while upholding high standards in quality, food safety, and overall operational efficiency.

Key Duties

• Organize daily task assignments under the guidance of the Production Manager to ensure smooth workflow.
• Conduct inductions and training sessions, and supervise staffing levels to sustain optimal team performance, business continuity, and KPI achievement.
• Guide and facilitate the induction, development, ongoing training, and coaching of team members.
• Create and nurture a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture where all employees feel supported and valued.
• Continuously assess team performance, providing feedback aimed at fostering accountability and ongoing improvement.
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety, food safety, quality, and company policies.
• Champion continual improvement initiatives to boost productivity, enhance quality, increase efficiency, and minimize waste.
• Assist the Production Manager in workforce planning, resolving operational challenges, and maintaining business continuity.
• Exemplify company values by promoting a culture centered on safety, teamwork, and excellence.

Candidate Profile

• Between three and five years of experience in production, processing, manufacturing, or FMCG sectors.
• Experience leading, supervising, mentoring, training, or developing team members, either through formal management roles or informal leadership.
• Strong knowledge of production workflows, quality assurance systems, and key operational performance indicators.
• Demonstrated ability to meet production targets without compromising safety or quality standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an aptitude for engaging and motivating a diverse workforce.
• Genuine enthusiasm for coaching and developing team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
• Effective problem-solving and sound decision-making abilities.
• Strong organizational skills capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• A focus on continuous improvement and consistent delivery of results.
