Role Overview

We seek a seasoned Product Design Lead to shape and implement the design vision across our suite of products. This leadership position involves overseeing the complete product design lifecycle, mentoring fellow designers, developing robust design systems, and collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams to craft exceptional user experiences.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and steer the overarching product design strategy that aligns with FlyAkeed’s business aspirations
• Manage the full spectrum of product design activities: from discovery and user research through to building high-fidelity user interfaces and handing off for production
• Coach and advance the professional growth of design team members through mentoring and constructive feedback
• Work synergistically with Product Managers, Engineers, and other key stakeholders to influence product direction
• Conduct user research studies and usability tests, translating findings into actionable product enhancements
• Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed UI designs
• Design, sustain, and continuously improve a scalable design system ensuring product consistency
• Enforce standards for accessibility, usability, and visual consistency across all products
• Lead design critiques, interactive workshops, and foster cross-team collaboration
• Advocate for user-centered design approaches and use data-driven insights to guide decisions
• Utilize state-of-the-art AI tools and design workflows to speed up design validation and deployment

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Product Design, UX/UI Design, or closely related fields
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor designers
• A strong portfolio showcasing comprehensive product design on web and mobile platforms
• Proficiency in Figma, prototyping methods, interaction design, design tokens, and managing design systems
• Well-versed in product thinking balancing user experience, business goals, and technical feasibility
• Understanding of frontend technologies including HTML, CSS, Tailwind CSS, and React, enabling effective engineer collaboration
• Hands-on experience with AI-enabled design-to-code solutions like Codex, Cursor, or Claude Code
• Experienced with Storybook and familiar with reviewing design implementation to maintain quality in code
• Effective communication, leadership, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Background in Agile workflow environments

Additional Assets

• Experience designing products native to AI or supporting developer tools
• Knowledgeable about accessibility compliance (WCAG) and inclusive design principles
• Exposure to product analytics and experimentation frameworks
• Basic skills in frontend development
• Interest in current AI technologies and contemporary product development methods
