Opportunity Overview
Auckland Council's Procurement Delivery team is seeking an experienced Procurement Coordinator to join their group. This role involves managing the complete sourcing process and assisting business units to follow council procurement protocols to achieve beneficial commercial, social, and sustainable results. You will work closely with stakeholders to clarify requirements, encourage early procurement planning, and ensure that all projects comply with council policies, processes, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare procurement documentation and offer guidance on contracts and supporting paperwork.
- Manage contract purchase orders and collaborate with project managers to confirm insurance prerequisites.
- Assist Senior Procurement Coordinators on more complex assignments.
- Support customers and suppliers in effectively navigating the council's procurement systems.
- Participate in initiatives aimed at continuous improvement to enhance procurement delivery across the organization.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should possess two to three years of experience in procurement or a related role, alongside a solid understanding of end-to-end procurement processes. Experience in central or local government or public sector procurement environments is highly valued.
Respect for transparency, fairness, accountability, and compliance in government procurement settings is essential. Candidates should be organized, analytical, capable of managing multiple priorities, and committed to providing excellent service to both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Hands-on experience in supporting sourcing and procurement activities.
- Strong familiarity with government or public sector procurement procedures.
- Experience in preparing procurement documents and conducting price analysis.
- Understanding of contracts, procurement policies, and compliance standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong time management abilities and resilience under pressure.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Possess at least NCEA Level 3 or an equivalent qualification.
Knowledge of Auckland Council's systems, particularly SAP or SAP Ariba, is advantageous. Holding a valid New Zealand driver's license is desirable.
