We are looking for an experienced Procurement and Vendor Strategy Consultant based in Germany to join a partner company's dynamic environment on a fractional, part-time basis. This role is centered on optimizing technology investments by managing vendor relationships, negotiating better commercial terms, and uncovering cost-saving possibilities within technology portfolios including SaaS and cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze agreements related to SaaS, cloud infrastructure, software, data, advertising technologies, and service providers to find optimization opportunities.
- Lead vendor negotiations to secure improved pricing, contractual conditions, service levels, and overall value.
- Identify and execute cost reduction strategies, eliminate unnecessary redundancies, and enhance the efficiency of technology spending.
- Research alternative vendor options and platforms to increase negotiation leverage and inform strategic choices.
- Devise and implement vendor consolidation plans across various business units and acquisitions.
- Collaborate closely with leadership teams to align procurement priorities with business objectives.
- Examine software usage and subscriptions to detect opportunities for savings or efficiency improvements.
- Support procurement efforts related to new business initiatives, product launches, and merger integrations.
- Manage vendor rationalization and contract unification processes post-acquisitions.
- Provide visibility of contract renewals, pricing frameworks, vendor commitments, and procurement performance indicators.
- Prepare executive summaries, business cases, and recommendations to aid decision-makers.
- Track and report on savings realized and the impact of procurement strategies.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in negotiating agreements involving SaaS, software, cloud infrastructure, digital services, or technology providers.
- Proven track record of achieving tangible cost savings through vendor negotiations and procurement initiatives.
- Deep knowledge of software licensing, subscription pricing, vendor relationship management, and strategic sourcing.
- Experience with contracts involving cloud providers, SaaS vendors, data and advertising tech suppliers, infrastructure partners, or enterprise software companies.
- Background working with technology companies, digital businesses, software firms, or rapidly growing startups.
- Preferred experience in mergers and acquisitions, vendor consolidation, and post-acquisition integrations.
- Strong financial acumen and analytical abilities to build persuasive business cases and quantify savings.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Excellent attention to detail in contract evaluation and pricing structure analysis.
- Proactive mindset, comfortable dealing with ambiguity and rapid growth environments.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, comfortable working across global time zones including overlap with US Pacific morning hours.
- Committed to ownership, accountability, meticulous execution, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
Perks and Benefits
- Fully remote-first work environment with collaboration across global teams.
- Flexible fractional part-time engagement tailored to your schedule.
- Performance incentives tied to achieving savings and successful procurement outcomes.
- Direct involvement with executive leadership and influence over strategic business decisions.
- Exposure to a wide range of technologies, vendors, and business operations.
- Opportunity to be part of a motivated, goal-oriented team culture.
- Recognition and award programs celebrating individual contributions.
- Virtual social initiatives such as remote gatherings and 'coffee buddy' engagements.
- Weekly meeting-free days to maximize focused productivity.
