About the Role

Join Brunswick as a Principal Software Engineer within the Navico Group PD&E division, where innovation transforms the marine experience globally. This role is pivotal in architecting, developing, and delivering top-quality software solutions across a variety of cutting-edge products. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, leveraging your expertise in software and embedded systems engineering to build reliable systems and lead technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust software applications and systems.
  • Engage in technical design discussions and perform thorough code reviews.
  • Partner with product managers and engineering teams to produce durable solutions.
  • Ensure software quality through testing, automation, and debugging.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical issues spanning software and system layers.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to software architecture and strategic technical decisions.
  • Collaborate on integration efforts involving software, firmware, and hardware.
  • Participate in on-water testing of advanced prototypes as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years in professional software development roles.
  • Proficient in software design, coding, debugging, especially in C and C++.
  • Experience with build tools like Make and CMake.
  • Familiarity with Qt/QML or similar frameworks.
  • Development exposure on platforms such as Linux, iOS, Android, or Windows.
  • Hands-on experience with CAN bus systems.
  • Knowledge of IoT technologies such as ThingsBoard, MQTT, Mender, or equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and effective communication skills.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively within teams.
  • Bonus skills: Experience with Zephyr or comparable RTOS, hardware debugging, use of diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes and multimeters, and ability to interpret electronic schematics.

  • Embedded systems programming and firmware development background.
  • Expertise in hardware-software integration and troubleshooting in embedded settings.
  • Experience with embedded Linux environments.
  • Understanding of bootloaders, firmware update processes, and embedded security.

  • Networking technologies including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, TCP/IP, and Ethernet.

Working Environment

  • This role is hands-on and technical by nature.
