Role overview
Queensland Government is seeking a Principal Procurement Officer in Brisbane to support corporate initiatives across its five business groups. This role is focused on strengthening procurement capability, guiding internal stakeholders, and improving how procurement activities are planned and delivered.
Key duties
- Deliver strategic and operational procurement analysis, planning, category management, strategy design, and implementation support.
- Act as a trusted source of procurement expertise for departmental business areas and the DPI procurement network.
- Lead tender activity end to end, from early planning through contract award, contract administration, and ongoing contract management.
- Prepare procurement-related correspondence and provide procurement advice to stakeholders.
- Use delegated procurement authority when required.
- Review current procurement systems and processes, then identify and drive improvements that make the function more effective and efficient.
- Contribute practical and objective input into departmental procurement policies, systems, and procedures.
- Help lift the capability and reputation of procurement across the department by building the knowledge and skills of purchasing staff.
What you need to bring
Experience applying procurement policies, procedures, or frameworks is highly desirable, particularly within government or the public sector. A Level 3 Procurement Certification is also required, specifically the Diploma in Government - Procurement and Contracting.
