About the Role
The Porter in the Diagnostic Imaging department, reporting to the Supervisor-Diagnostic Imaging Support, plays a vital role within Shared Health at St. Boniface Hospital. The position is based in Winnipeg and aligns with Shared Health’s mission to coordinate patient-centered clinical and preventive services province-wide.
Primary Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely across the imaging department and related areas.
- Assist patients with their needs and provide attentive care during transport.
- Maintain accurate records of transported patients and related activities.
- Clean and disinfect equipment, ensuring functionality and readiness for use.
- Keep patient rooms stocked with necessary linen supplies.
- Monitor and replenish oxygen tanks, replacing them as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of Diagnostic Imaging services.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Preferred minimum of six months of experience as a patient porter or in a direct patient care role within a hospital or healthcare environment.

- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Work Conditions and Additional Details
- Employment is full-time with an FTE of 0.70, involving day, night, and weekend shifts.
- Work schedule consists of 7.75 hours daily, amounting to 2015 annual base hours.
- In-person work arrangement at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg.
- Salary scale ranges from $21.473 to $24.819 per hour, depending on experience and progression.
- Position requires a satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check within six months prior to employment start. Candidates must bear any related service fees.
