Planning Manager

Role overview

The Planning Manager will support key strategic accounts by working closely with account managers and directors to improve sales performance, margin outcomes, and inventory planning. This role requires strong communication with both internal teams and external partners, along with the ability to turn data into a clear business story. The position also supports the Planning Director by guiding Planning Analysts, setting direction, and helping ensure deadlines are achieved.

Key responsibilities

• Partner across multiple internal functions to build strong working relationships and coordinate efforts for efficient execution.
• Manage purchase orders, including knowledge of EDI processes; experience with bulk order management is an advantage.
• Prepare and maintain weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual reporting used to review retail KPIs and provide meaningful analysis with actionable recommendations.
• Respond quickly to ad hoc needs and work proactively in a fast-moving, multifaceted environment while aligning cross-functional teams around shared goals.
• Lead a team of analysts by organizing priorities and overseeing multiple requests and deliverables.
• Encourage and guide a high-performing planning team to deliver excellent service to customers.
• Handle additional duties as required by business priorities.

Candidate profile

• 5 to 8 years of experience in merchandise planning, buying, and wholesale.
• Background using retail planning systems for assortment building, forecasting, and optimization.
• Strong analytical ability with experience interpreting complex quantitative data and translating it into practical recommendations.
• Solid understanding of retail math and strong comfort working with numbers.
• Self-driven and able to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced setting.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines across multiple retail accounts.
• Detail-oriented with a process-focused mindset.
• Strong influencing and communication skills, including the ability to present data effectively to varied audiences.
• Advanced Microsoft Suite skills, especially Excel.
• Willingness to travel.
• Ability to lift more than 50 lbs.
• This is a remote position.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this role is $110,000 to $120,000. Final compensation will depend on education, experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market alignment for the location.
