Job description
Overview
The Planning Manager will oversee all planning, scheduling, progress oversight, and reporting for large scale power infrastructure projects including power plants, substations, transmission networks, and grid expansion works within EPC contracts. The role demands producing accurate, resource-based project timelines aligned with contractual deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage comprehensive master schedules for projects using Primavera P6.
- Define project work breakdown structures (WBS), establish and control baselines, critical path identification, and enforce project control processes.
- Track ongoing progress, pinpoint schedule risks and delays, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead development and execution of schedule recovery plans and mitigation measures.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning teams, and clients.
- Analyze project performance employing earned value management techniques.
- Compile and deliver weekly and monthly progress reports to management and clients.
- Assess schedules and progress updates from contractors and subcontractors.
- Support activities regarding claims, extensions of time (EOT), and delay analysis.
- Direct and guide planning engineers working on various projects.
- Ensure strict adherence to project control standards and reporting obligations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
- At least 15 years of experience in project planning.
- Minimum 8 years of experience specifically in power generation, transmission, substations, or related EPC projects.
- Demonstrated history of large-scale power plant projects such as CCGT, gas turbine, thermal, or renewable energy preferred.
- Experience in GCC region projects is highly advantageous.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Experience with Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of Power BI for reporting purposes.
- Competence in schedule risk analysis.
- Skilled in earned value management methodologies.
- Familiarity with delay analysis and claims support.
