Role Overview

Joining Rippling’s Employer of Record (EOR) Equity Services team, the Payroll Specialist will manage equity-related payroll and compliance tasks for global customers. This key role applies payroll expertise specifically to equity compensation in an EOR context, ensuring stock option and RSU income are accurately processed through payroll and compliant with tax requirements across countries.

Responsibilities

• Guide customers on correctly entering equity-related payroll items including earnings codes and taxable amounts.
• Process equity compensation in payroll runs, verifying accuracy of pay statements and tax deductions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve payroll system errors.
• Partner with tax advisors to ensure appropriate withholding and reporting across jurisdictions.
• Perform validation calculations for payroll withholding, employer cost, and net pay impacts.
• Explain payroll treatment of equity income to customers and employees, including imputed income calculation, tax withholding methods, and pay statement details.
• Support compliance filings tied to equity payroll events in various countries, including data preparation and follow-up with tax agencies.
• Maintain documentation such as SOPs and trackers related to equity payroll operations and regulatory filings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in payroll, tax compliance, or related roles with hands-on involvement in multi-country payroll processing of non-cash income or taxable benefits.
• Understanding of how benefits like equity, relocation, or fringe benefits flow through payroll tax and reporting systems; equity-specific experience advantageous but not mandatory.
• Proficient in payroll calculations for tax withholding, net pay, and associated employer costs.
• Experience troubleshooting payroll software and collaborating with technical teams.
• Ability to interpret legal and tax guidance and translate it into operational payroll procedures.
• Strong written communication skills to convey complex payroll concepts to diverse audiences.
• Remarkable attention to detail and skill in managing large datasets, multiple deadlines, and interdepartmental dependencies.
• Capacity to excel in dynamic, fast-paced environments requiring adaptability.
• Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including working with extensive data, formulas, lookups, and pivot tables; familiarity with case management tools like Salesforce is beneficial.

Compensation includes a competitive salary, benefits, and bonus. The salary range for this role is CAD 90,000 to 120,000 annually, with final offers varying based on experience and location.
