Overview
Peabody Coaltrade Asia Private Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Payroll Officer for their Wilpinjong Mine location near Mudgee, New South Wales. This full-time, on-site position involves ensuring payroll accuracy in a complex operational mining environment, contributing to effective payroll management at the Wilpinjong site and supporting other Australian sites as needed.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage complete payroll processing activities with a focus on accuracy, timely execution, and compliance with applicable agreements, awards, and company policies.
- Oversee and validate employee time and attendance data using UKG (formerly Kronos) and SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) systems.
- Respond to and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees, supervisors, HR personnel, and site leadership.
- Provide training and ongoing support to employees and supervisors for payroll and timekeeping systems.
- Collaborate closely with HR and operational stakeholders about roster modifications, employment changes, enterprise agreements, and their effects on payroll.
- Support statutory reporting obligations and payroll compliance activities.
- Assist with payroll audits, contribute to process enhancements, update documentation, and maintain data integrity.
Candidate Profile
- At least five years of hands-on experience processing Australian payrolls.
- Minimum two years’ experience with SAP Employee Central, SAP ECP, and UKG/Kronos systems.
- Thorough understanding of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation regulations, Single Touch Payroll (STP), enterprise agreements, and awards.
- Proven capability managing payroll data for complex rosters and attendance records.
- Strong numerical and analytical talents coupled with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organization skills to handle multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating a customer-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently while fostering strong relationships with site teams, corporate stakeholders, and the national payroll group.
- Relevant qualifications in payroll, accounting, or related fields are advantageous.
- Experience in the mining industry is favorable but not mandatory.
Work Schedule & Location
The role operates Monday to Friday, promoting a balanced lifestyle in the scenic Mudgee region. Peabody Energy may offer relocation assistance to qualified candidates.
