Role Overview
As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will serve a crucial role in managing front desk operations to create a smooth experience for patients, staff, and referral sources. This position demands strong communication capabilities and proficiency in computer usage, with prior experience at the reception or front office preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist patients upon arrival, provide timely updates on wait periods, and respond to inquiries at the reception area.
- Verify and update patient demographic data and insurance information during intake, including walk-in registrations.
- Handle collection of patient payments such as deductibles, copays, and co-insurance fees directly at the front desk.
- Schedule patient follow-up visits covering cast and measurement appointments, device delivery, and prosthetic care plans.
- Act as a contact point for clinic services, providing information about patient programs, support groups, and related resources.
- Coordinate with the Revenue Cycle Management team to acquire required patient information for administrative processes.
- Maintain complete and accurate electronic health records for all patients.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is mandatory.
- Preference for candidates who successfully complete the Talent Sorter assessment as part of the selection process.
- Less than one year of customer service, administrative, or relevant experience is acceptable.
- Prior receptionist or medical front office experience is advantageous.
- Applicants must hold or be eligible for a valid driver’s license compliant with the company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including telephone etiquette.
- Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute with accuracy.
- Ability to assist and work well with individuals with disabilities.
- Familiarity with Alpha filing systems and basic knowledge of medical reimbursement and terminology preferred.
- Competency with computers, Windows software, email, and all standard office equipment such as fax machines, calculators, postage meters, and copiers.
