Role Overview
Following an internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced Parcels Manager to direct day-to-day operations of our Christchurch Parcels site. This role demands hands-on leadership to ensure safe and efficient freight movement, continuous support of the team, and adherence to operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operational planning and execution for the Parcels service.
- Oversee freight flow, labor allocation, and prioritize operational tasks.
- Drive performance metrics related to service quality, safety, productivity, and compliance.
- Coach and develop team members to foster accountability and enhance capability.
- Maintain strong communication channels and set precise expectations within the team.
- Ensure adherence to scanning, labeling, endorsements, and dangerous goods protocols.
- Identify and address safety risks, hazards, and compliance issues promptly.
- Collaborate with Transport, Customer Service, Claims, and leadership teams to achieve Delivered In Full On Time (DIFOT) targets.
- Provide transparent operational updates and participate in site leadership initiatives.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a practical, engaged operations leader who thrives amid the fast pace and complexity of parcel logistics, leading by example from the floor and cultivating a culture centered on accountability, safety, and ongoing improvement.
Essential qualifications and skills include:
- Leadership experience in parcel, courier, or time-sensitive freight operations.
- Strong capability to manage teams, balance priorities, and enhance operational outcomes.
- Understanding of key performance indicators and scanning compliance protocols.
- Committed to safety, customer service excellence, and continuous process enhancement.
- A valid New Zealand Class 1 Driver's Licence.
- Possession of Dangerous Goods (DG) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Forklift licences or readiness to obtain them.
