Role overview
This position is for an Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) consultant who will support, improve, implement, and maintain logistics and transportation solutions built on the Oracle OTM platform. The role combines functional and technical work, including process analysis, system configuration, integrations, incident handling, and close coordination with business and technical teams to keep transportation operations running smoothly and steadily improve processes.
Functional responsibilities
- Set up and support core Oracle Transportation Management capabilities such as order management, shipment management, transportation planning, rate and contract management, financial management, and business process automation.
- Review business needs and translate them into practical, scalable OTM solutions.
- Run requirement-gathering discussions and functional workshops with business stakeholders.
- Prepare functional specifications and solution design documentation.
- Support testing efforts, including SIT, UAT, and production checks.
Technical responsibilities
- Build and maintain integrations between OTM and related upstream and downstream systems.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues across application and integration layers.
- Write and tune SQL and PL/SQL queries, procedures, and scripts.
- Work with XML, XSLT, web services, and integration frameworks.
- Inspect logs and trace root causes for application, integration, and performance problems.
- Assist with deployments and stabilize the solution after production releases.
Production support and AMS
- Handle incidents, service requests, and problem tickets while meeting SLA commitments.
- Perform root cause analysis and introduce preventive fixes where needed.
- Monitor critical interfaces, batch jobs, and overall system health.
- Work with users and technical teams to close production issues quickly.
- Take part in major incident and outage management activities.
Process improvement and governance
- Spot opportunities to automate and streamline processes.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Participate in release planning, change management, and governance reviews.
- Follow quality standards and support operating procedures.
Knowledge management
- Create and keep current functional and technical documentation.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for team members and end users.
- Guide junior consultants and help strengthen team capability.
Experience and expectations
The ideal candidate should have 6 to 9 years of overall IT experience, including 5 to 7 years of hands-on Oracle Transportation Management work. Experience in implementation, enhancement, rollout, or application support assignments is expected, along with exposure to global delivery and stakeholder-facing environments. The role calls for someone who can independently manage medium-to-high complexity support and enhancement work, lead discussions with business and technical stakeholders, provide solution recommendations and effort estimates, mentor junior team members, and take ownership of assigned workstreams to ensure timely delivery. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities are important.
Preferred background
Helpful additional experience includes Oracle Global Trade Management, Oracle EBS/ERP integrations, middleware platforms such as Boomi or OIC, Agile/Scrum methods, ITIL Foundation knowledge, and work in transportation, supply chain, or logistics domains.
