Operations Manager - Poultry

Role Overview

The Operations Manager role focuses on managing comprehensive poultry operations to uphold high standards of productivity, bird well-being, biosecurity, operational excellence, and profitability. This position demands both in-depth technical knowledge in poultry as well as strong supervisory skills.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day poultry activities including rearing, feeding, hatchery processes, slaughtering, and overall production outcomes.
• Administer operations within cage-based poultry systems ensuring optimal feeding, watering, ventilation, lighting, and environmental conditions.
• Track bird health indicators such as mortality rates, growth progression, feed conversion ratio (FCR), production efficiency, and biosecurity measures.
• Coordinate vaccination schedules, medication administration, disease prevention strategies, and veterinary protocols.
• Lead farm managers, supervisors, and operational staff while ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, animal welfare guidelines, and food safety regulations.
• Supervise feed consumption, manage inventory and equipment, and oversee facilities maintenance along with other operational resources.
• Analyze production data for cost control, generate performance reports, and introduce improvements to operational processes.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Poultry Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, or related disciplines.
• At least 15 years of extensive poultry operation experience, ideally within large-scale poultry firms.
• Prior experience working in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is a strong advantage.
• Demonstrated hands-on expertise in commercial poultry management and cage systems operation.
• Experience managing multiple poultry value chain functions including rearing, feeding, hatchery, and slaughtering/processing.
• Preference for candidates with experience in large, well-established poultry enterprises rather than consulting or small setups.
