Night Transport Operator

About the Role

On-time Logistics, a respected family-run transport company focusing on UK container logistics, is seeking a Night Transport Operator for its new Tilbury site in Essex. This permanent, full-time night shift position offers a key role within a growing business where your decisions directly impact nightly operations and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee vehicle and driver activities overnight utilizing the Transport Management System and tracking tools.
• Address and resolve delays, vehicle breakdowns, and operational challenges in real time.
• Maintain consistent communication with drivers, clients, and port authorities.
• Provide timely estimated time of arrival updates and handle service-related issues efficiently.
• Manage VBS bookings alongside all transport-related administrative tasks.
• Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours and Working Time regulations.
• Prepare comprehensive operational handovers for the daytime planning team.
• Collaborate closely with planners to optimize fleet utilization and enhance service quality.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in Transport Planning or within a Traffic Office environment is required.
• Excellent organizational abilities coupled with strong problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding communication and customer service capabilities.
• Ability to independently make informed decisions under pressure.
• Good knowledge of the UK road network geography.
• Proficient with Transport Management Systems and Microsoft Office tools.
• Prior container transport experience is a plus but not mandatory.
