Role Overview

The Night Auditor serves as the overnight representative of the hostel, delivering exceptional guest service during late hours, completing nightly audits, and ensuring a secure and inviting environment for guests. This multifaceted position combines guest relations, operational duties, and support for overnight cleaning efforts, ensuring the hostel remains guest-ready at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet guests arriving late or making bookings overnight, ensuring a personalized and welcoming check-in experience.
• Assume responsibility for the property throughout the night, maintaining safety, security, and operational oversight after daytime management departures.
• Handle guest inquiries, reservations, telephone communications, complaints, and service recovery promptly and professionally.
• Promote JO&JOE's services, events, facilities, and loyalty programs while identifying upselling opportunities.
• Conduct the night audit process, including financial reconciliations, invoicing, cash management, reporting, and communication of operational needs for the next day.
• Prepare and dispatch comprehensive overnight reports, document incidents, and communicate relevant details to operational teams and leadership.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards in all guest-facing public areas throughout the night.
• Support housekeeping with overnight cleaning tasks to ensure the property is ready each morning.
• Identify, report, and follow up on maintenance, safety, and housekeeping issues to minimize disruptions.
• Assist broader hostel operations and cover as Night Manager when required, gaining leadership experience and receiving additional remuneration.

Qualifications and Attributes

• Innate hospitality skills with enthusiasm for meeting new people and creating memorable guest experiences from arrival to departure.
• Ability to remain organized and composed in a busy, multitasking environment.
• Comfortable and proficient with technology, including property management systems (experience with MEWS is advantageous) and audit-related tasks.
• Team-oriented with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude to support workplace culture.
• Passion for hospitality, valuing guest service, cleanliness, safety, and operations.
• Flexible availability for a 7-day roster and eagerness to thrive in a dynamic, social, and fast-paced setting.

Additional Preferences

• Prior customer service or hotel industry experience is valued.
• Familiarity with MEWS or similar hotel management software is a bonus.
• Interest in travel and delivering outstanding guest experiences is a plus.

• Initial phone screening conducted by the recruitment team for suitable candidates.
