Role Overview and Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate expertise in WAN, LAN, and MAN technologies.
- Possess solid understanding of DNS, IP addressing, firewalls, latency challenges, and WAN acceleration tools.
- Manage routing and switching protocols including RIP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, STP, and VTP.
- Take ownership of network technical responsibilities and accountability.
- Configure, supervise, and optimize WAN/LAN devices to enhance network performance and security within high availability environments.
- Administer Cisco Nexus, Catalyst switches, and ISR equipment within 1G/10G multi-VLAN distributed infrastructures.
- Enforce security policies using ACLs and MAC-based restrictions across LAN and WAN settings.
- Plan network systems and create documentation using Visio diagrams.
- Have deep understanding of transport, routing, and security/authentication protocols across OSI layers, focusing on TCP/IP.
- Apply knowledge of networking features and protocols including EIGRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, STP, EtherChannel, 802.1Q trunking, HSRP, QoS, multicast, RADIUS/TACACS, SNMP, and various transmission technologies such as T-1/E-1, T3/E3, Metro Ethernet, BRI/PRI, and MPLS.
