Overview
Join our team as a Network Engineer specializing in storage and backup solutions. You will handle both SAN and NAS protocols on EMC Unity 500 storage systems, manage backups using multiple tools, troubleshoot backup issues, and support enterprise Storage Area Networks in critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate EMC Unity 500 storage targeting SAN and NAS protocols.
- Initiate backups via EMC Networker and Data Domain systems.
- Conduct quarterly business continuity, backup, and disaster recovery drills to ensure data integrity.
- Perform daily health checks on SAN devices across locations.
- Troubleshoot backup concerns including network and filesystem issues.
- Restore files or folders from successful backups.
- Utilize Commvault Simpana for client backup simulations and policy scheduling.
- Execute SQL and Oracle database backups using NetApp SnapManager aligned with client retention schedules.
- Manage backup datasets and policies via DFM tool, also restoring through SnapManager, SnapVault, or DFM.
- Perform data migration from IBM XIV to NetApp SAN storage with NetApp DTA migration tool.
- Install and configure Commvault iData agents for multiple systems including Windows, Unix/Linux, SQL, Oracle, Exchange, NAS (NDMP), and VMware.
- Configure backups in clustered environments and set up disk libraries.
- Troubleshoot tape and magnetic library issues, and maintain periodic service pack and patch updates.
- Handle daily incident and change tickets, backup failure meetings, and work within SLA to resolve Commvault related problems.
- Manage archive retention policies, storage schedules, and policies to ensure disk-based backups are reliable and recoverable.
- Troubleshoot communication and functional issues involving tape libraries, media agents, and COMM servers.
- Configure magnetic libraries and shared disk devices, resolving network and domain accessibility issues.
- Analyze backup logs for troubleshooting and fixing issues.
- Perform disaster recovery tests on COMM servers as scheduled.
- Establish snap mirror relationships between storages and backup/restoration of Brocade/Fabric switch configurations.
- Implement storage allocation policies, create volumes, quotas, and configure permissions for Qtrees, and manage CIFS and NFS shares.
- Support SAP DB level backups using NetApp SnapManager with scheduled retention policies.
- Conduct daily troubleshooting of EMC storage equipment and Brocade/Cisco switches.
- Manage BCV and dynamic device conversions and allocations, supporting TimeFinder Business Continuity Solutions and symmetric remote data facilities.
- Configure PowerPath and multipath management.
- Monitor system performance, schedule tasks as required, and produce monthly capacity and other reports.
- Engage with clients through calls and chats, providing SAN documentation and proactive recommendations for storage operations and efficiency improvements.
