About the Role
We are seeking a specialist MSK Physiotherapist to join our team at Furness General Hospital, providing expert care for colleagues with standalone or work-related musculoskeletal disorders. The role involves autonomous management of your own patient caseload, conducting physiotherapeutic assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and offering advice on workplace adaptations to improve employee health and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced clinical assessments for complex physical, psychological, and social conditions related to MSK disorders, leading to accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practice, respecting patients' privacy and dignity, with continued reassessment and adjustment of care as necessary.
- Create detailed discharge plans for patients upon completion of treatment.
- Employ advanced physical skills such as manual therapy techniques and therapeutic handling in patient care.
- Provide ergonomic workplace assessments and recommend practical adjustments to support return-to-work programmes.
- Contribute to health promotion initiatives within Occupational Health and Wellbeing, focusing on specialist MSK areas including back care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team collaborations to deliver holistic care and workplace health solutions.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation adhering to trust and professional standards.
- Engage in research and clinical audits as part of ongoing professional development and service improvement.
Work Environment
This position is based within the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service across multiple sites including Furness General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital, and other community healthcare settings. These facilities offer a comprehensive range of services, including emergency and critical care, outpatient and inpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, and community outreach.
