Role Overview

We are seeking passionate and innovative midwives committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to birthing families. Oxfordshire's Maternity Services provide a unique environment where approximately 7,500 babies are delivered yearly. Our facilities include four stand-alone Midwifery Led Birth Units in Banbury, Chipping Norton, Wantage, and Wallingford, alongside home birth services throughout the region. Additionally, there is an integrated birth unit catering to around 10% of laboring individuals. The John Radcliffe Hospital, a large tertiary center, offers a spacious Delivery Suite featuring an en-suite birthing pool room, three maternity theatres, and a dedicated maternity recovery ward.

Opportunities

This opening is intended for both newly qualified midwives and experienced Band 5/Band 6 midwives interested in joining hospital and community teams. Newly qualified midwives will engage in a 12-18 month structured preceptorship program led by our Practice Development midwives. Applicants must have or expect to obtain full NMC registration within six months. Please note, international midwives without current full NMC registration are not eligible to apply.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver continuous care, guidance, and support through pregnancy, labor, and postnatal stages.
  • Assess care needs and plan, implement, and evaluate care programs within assigned areas to ensure high midwifery care standards.
  • Promote best practices by educating and motivating colleagues while enhancing personal knowledge and skills.
  • Take accountability for personal and professional growth.
  • Support practice management by undertaking delegated duties from senior staff.
  • Facilitate a supportive learning environment for students and new team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and non-statutory regulations and contribute to clinical risk management efforts.
