Role overview
This position combines merchandising and cashier duties at the Gainesville, Florida store. You will welcome shoppers, help them find products, route them to a parts specialist when needed, and provide fast, courteous checkout service. The role also includes keeping the front of the store organized, stocked, and visually ready for customers, while helping discourage shoplifting and supporting daily store operations.
Merchandiser responsibilities
As part of the merchandising function, you will keep the sales floor customer-ready and follow store presentation standards.
- Greet customers on the sales floor and help them locate merchandise or direct them to a parts specialist for hard-parts needs.
- Receive, price, and put away incoming stock.
- Maintain a clean, filled, and fronted display area every day.
- Update displays in line with company instructions and planograms.
- Complete all price updates at the front of the store.
- Ensure sale signage is displayed correctly and that promotional racks stay adequately stocked.
- Remove promotional materials when offers end and restore standard pricing.
- Help with stock corrections, cycle counts, and returns of excess inventory.
- Work with the manager to finish the store To Do List and weekly team tasks.
- Serve as a primary deterrent to shoplifting and help maintain front-floor security.
- Support O’Reilly Image Maker duties.
- Follow company clock-in and clock-out procedures.
Cashier responsibilities
- Process front-floor sales quickly and in a friendly, professional manner.
- Handle customer returns efficiently and courteously.
- When the express lane is unused and the counter is busy, step in to complete tickets and accept cash, checks, and credit card payments.
Skills, knowledge, and experience
The employer values candidates with strong number handling ability, solid communication skills, and good organization. Prior experience in cashiering or stocking is preferred. Being able to drive a manual transmission vehicle is a plus. Multilingual candidates are encouraged, with Spanish specifically noted as highly desirable.
