About the Role
AdMed is a long-established, award-winning agency that creates modern training solutions for pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostic, and medical brands. Its focus is on helping healthcare professionals, sales teams, employees, and consumers clearly understand the science behind the products they use. The company is seeking an experienced, energetic Medical Writer to become part of the team.
In this position, you will serve as a subject-matter expert and represent AdMed in both written and on-camera formats. The work spans the full content lifecycle, including client brainstorming, scientific research, original content development, and presentation in video-based training programs.
This is a hybrid position based in Philadelphia, with three in-office days each week.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality, original scientific content tailored to varied audiences such as pharmaceutical sales teams, physicians, and patients.
- Develop creative concepts independently and in collaboration with teammates and clients to turn scientific information into engaging video and training materials.
- Participate in client discussions, understand their goals, share thoughtful input, and build trusted working relationships.
- Support artists, editors, and fellow writers by providing expert guidance that helps bring the content vision to life.
- Review educational materials carefully to ensure scientific accuracy while aligning with the client’s preferred style and tone.
- Research thoroughly, cite sources properly, and keep up with current literature and relevant guidelines.
- Present written material confidently as an on-camera trainer for custom video content.
- Adapt training content into multiple formats, including printed manuals, virtual sessions, and web-based applications.
- Spot project risks or scope changes early and help drive practical solutions when timelines, deliverables, or client requests shift.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in medical writing within pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical education settings.
- Working knowledge of AMA style.
- Strong focus on scientific accuracy and editorial detail.
- Solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
- Hands-on experience with medical writing, referencing, review, and copy approval workflows.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare thorough, detailed documentation.
- Strong resourcefulness, close attention to detail, and reliable follow-through.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, along with strong overall computer skills.
- Good time management, adaptability, and the ability to meet deadlines comfortably.
Education Requirements
A PhD or PharmD is required.
