Role Overview
Join Hitachi Energy as a Mechanical Design Engineer where you'll contribute to the engineering and design of Oil Type Distribution Transformers (up to 35 MVA, 66 kV Class) and Dry Type Transformers (up to 10 MVA, 33 kV Class). You'll be involved in preparing technical customer documentation, creating manufacturing drawings, and generating bills of materials, all while working within a global collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive customer documents, detailed manufacturing drawings, and accurate bills of materials.
- Coordinate electrical transformer design activities across a worldwide network of factories, ensuring alignment and efficiency.
- Engage actively in internal reviews of design concepts ensuring quality and innovation.
- Promote a collaborative team environment, leveraging strong networking and communication skills.
- Maintain effective communication with technical teams situated in various global locations.
- Adhere to and embody core corporate values centered around safety, integrity, and accountability.
- Ensure design processes comply with relevant regulatory standards and internal procedures.
- Contribute positively to a global engineering center by supporting international projects and fostering teamwork.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
- Between 2 and 7 years of professional experience in mechanical design, specifically within power transformer manufacturing or distribution industries; candidates with more experience are also considered.
- Strong grounding in IS, IEC, and IEEE standards applicable to transformer design.
- Understanding of requirements related to clearance, creepage distances, layouts, and cleat arrangements.
- Prior exposure or experience in winding design is advantageous.
- Proficient use of CAD applications such as Creo, Inventor, or CATIA, alongside finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and similar productivity tools is beneficial.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Capability to work effectively in both individual and team settings within dynamic and fast-paced environments.
- Strong analytical skills combined with proficient problem-solving abilities.
